Water is life. It is the most important & essential part of human life where 60% of human body consists of water. No living being in this world can survive without it. Every day we should drink enough water to save the life, especially prevent dehydration. But the common question is that how much should I drink per day? It is very popular advice in our society that eight glasses of water (about 1.9 liters) per day is necessary for a human body, but this 8-by-8 rule of 64 ounces per day is not supported by any concrete evidence.
How Much Water Should Drink ?
Many experts suggest that there is no fixed amount of water you have to drink per day. You can change anytime amount of water depends on several reasons including gender, age, weight, physical activity, local weather, present health condition and even your existing place. Keep in mind that we should not drink too much water at a time. Separate the total amount of water you need and drink many glasses of water during the day. The Institute of Medicine\'s Food and Nutrition Board (U.S.) suggests that an average woman needs about 11 cups of water (2.7 liters) and the average man needs about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters). If you hard exercise that makes you sweat, you should drink additional 2-3 glasses of water. Similarly, in summer season you can drink extra water to prevent dehydration.
Furthermore, kids also need water, but less than adults. According to the experts, children can take 6-8 (1.5-2 Liters) glasses water each day. But there is no restriction this formal rule when weather is hot or they are tired for more exercise. Some children can drink less water, but who show symptoms of dehydration must increase water drinking as part of their daily routine. They can get water from juice, milk, juice, but avoid alcohol or soda. On the other hand, pregnant and nursing women are recommended to drink additional water than average women individually 10-13 (2.3 - 3.1 liters) cups of water per day.
